Kamienna the most difficult

The most difficult mountain river is Kamienna in Karkonosze, because during spring melting changes its state from a slow spring into a rapid river.

It flows through the centre of Szklarska Poręba and almost all the year long you can cross it on foot without any problems. However, when the level of water is high enough, its upper part reaches the values of IV+/V- in a six grade international scales of mountain rivers difficulty WW (white water). Such a condition is possible only for a few days in the year, usually in April. At that time Open Polish Academic Champioships in mountain canoeing take place on the river. And every year dozes of contestants from the whole country want to meet the challenge.
